Louie “The Art Boss” Pronstroller originally founded the original Student Art Society (SAS) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in 2007. The Art Boss was the creator of a safe art space on-campus where artists and art appreciators could creatively express themselves, relax from the stress of college life, expand their talents in the arts, and also learn how to elevate their social skills and marketability, all while having fun. The main purpose of the non-profit organization was (and still is) utilizing art as a venue to promote awareness for disability rights and veterans’ rights.
Many milestones have happened since the humble days of being in small basement office in Newark’s NJIT Campus Center (fondly remembered by the SAS founders as “The Art Room @ B7”) and Student Art Society has become Student Art Society Worldwide Inc. (SASWI), a 401(c)3 Non-Profit Organization (NPO) that is now based in sunny Florida. SASWI (pronounced “sass-whee!” but still referred to as SAS) has taken on a global approach to assisting and recognizing artists from all walks of life. Many artists are underappreciated, lack the marketing skills to promote themselves, or just do not have the audience that is available by partnering with SAS.
With the world constantly shifting and evolving new standards for commerce, communication, and networking, sometimes it’s difficult to be an artist while also being informed of all these changes. NFT’s (non-fungible tokens) stepped into the art scene in 2021 and have drastically reshaped the art world. This new digital frontier allows artists to shape the future of art and sales of their art pieces. The process of learning about this new technology and branding your work in the public eye is a time-consuming task. Here’s where SAS can help.
SAS has created multiple platforms that exceed the present standards and offer an outlet for artists to be seen and heard. With their membership, artists get access to a unique catalog and presentation system. Since the global COVID pandemic of 2020, people everywhere have been looking for digital ways to enjoy what we considered as daily activities, such as visiting friends or even going to an art museum.
The SAS team recognized this need and began developing an immersive gallery where visitors can safely browse and experience art from the comfort of their homes or anywhere that they have access to the internet. The ARTchive, which was created by SAS, offers artists an opportunity to sell their work digitally and gives visitors an in-depth look at the artist, their supplies / art medium, and other details expressed though a visual system that accelerates the value of any art piece featured in the ARTchive.
Featured artists and members also have exclusive access to a blog that gives them a competitive edge and additional tools that create notable art.
Become a supporting member today. Your donations provide supplies to artists via contests, additional media on our site, expansion of the ARTchive, and training for members to hone their skills. Artists can send a request to be featured in the ARTchive and upon approval, receive the benefits of being listed in the gallery and receive marketing through our social channels. Each artist is featured in a corresponding e-brochure aligned with their debut in the ARTchive, and higher ranking art earns space at physical events hosted by SAS.
Thank you for taking a moment to read this page and we hope that you continue to enjoy the art and visual immersion experience that we’ve designed for you.
Student Art Society is also the IP holder of the Dark Space Depot designs (www.darkspacedepot.com). The gallery that you visit is part of the proprietary software and process that we have designed to better serve artists and art appreciators. We look forward to expanding our presentation with your continuous support and helpful suggestions.
Art on!
